The Microbiology Society has announced that the ‘Hot Topic’ presentation at its Annual Conference 2025 will be ‘Soil Microbiomes and One Health’, given by Professor Marcel van der Heijden.
The Society’s Annual Conference takes place from 31 March – 3 April at the Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool. Professor van der Heijden’s presentation will take place on the event’s final day.
Marcel van der Heijden is a Professor of Agroecology and Plant-Microbiome Interactions at the University of Zurich and research institute Agroscope (Switzerland). Professor van der Heijden will discuss his cutting-edge research on plant and soil microbiomes and the key role of soil microbes as drivers of soil health, ecosystem performance, and sustainable agriculture.
On the opportunity to present the Hot Topic Lecture at the Microbiology Society’s Annual Conference 2025, Professor van der Heijden said: “It is a big honour for me to present the Hot Topic at the Microbiology Society Annual Conference 2025 and explore the role of microbes in ecosystems and discuss the factors that regulate microbial communities.”
