The next Pro-Lab Diagnostics scientific webinar will be ‘The second 5-year national antimicrobial resistance action plan: what's new’. An update on the UK’s 20-year vision for confronting antimicrobial resistance, it takes place on Tuesday 30 July, 12 noon – 1.00 pm.
The webinar will feature two eminent guest speakers to update attendees on the second quarter of the plan. Angela Douglas MBE, President of BIVDA, and Dr Nick Brown, Consultant Medical Microbiologist, Cambridge University Hospitals, will provide an update of how the plan is progressing and what steps are being implemented over the next five years.
Published earlier this year, the updated plan takes learning from the achievements and challenges faced in delivering the previous plan, which was launched in 2019. It embeds lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic and will include specific commitments focusing on infection prevention and control, and the development and use of diagnostics and vaccines. Action has already been taken across sectors, including the medical and farming industries, to decrease the number of infections and prevent AMR from spreading.
