New US alliance to help laboratories accelerate adoption of digital pathology

Proscia has established a new partner alliance – named Proscia Ready - to help laboratories grow their use of digital pathology through an increasingly comprehensive approach.

Proscia Ready is made up of solution providers committed to delivering more than tightly integrated technologies so that life sciences organisations, including pharmaceutical companies and contract research organisations (CROs), and diagnostic laboratories can realise the full promise of digital pathology today and in the future.

As laboratories expand their digital pathology practices beyond basic image viewing and deploy artificial intelligence (AI), they must implement the right hardware and software solutions to meet their specific goals. These technologies, when successfully integrated in routine practice, can drive efficiencies, improve confidence, and unlock new insights. Even still, the need for multiple solutions can leave laboratories feeling hampered in their ability to scale. They may face a lack of certainty in their selections, limited investment protection, and the increased overhead of working with several vendors.

“It is clear that interoperability is critical to achieving the scaled adoption of digital pathology,” said Imogen Fitt, Senior Market Analyst at Signify Research. “Just as we’ve seen from earlier digitisation efforts in healthcare, it is often not enough for partners to solely focus on delivering integrated solutions. Laboratories will increasingly require a more comprehensive approach to make the most of their technology. Proscia Ready is a great example of an initiative intended to address this, and we look forward to seeing its impact in the future.”

Proscia Ready introduces a comprehensive approach that makes it easy for organisations to undergo the initial transition from microscope to whole-slide image and work towards 100% digitisation by providing:

  • Freedom to choose from established technology solutions: Proscia’s Concentriq® enterprise pathology platform is designed to integrate with partners’ whole slide scanners, image analysis and AI applications, laboratory information systems, and cloud infrastructure, giving laboratories flexibility to select the solutions they need and incorporate them into routine workflows.
  • Joint support agreements enabling faster issue resolution: The alliance’s strong working relationship simplifies the support experience, eliminating the need for laboratories to play an active role in resolving issues when they arise.
  • A shared vision for capitalising on innovation: Proscia Ready’s commitment to interoperability extends beyond solutions available today. The community of partners regularly engages to share product roadmaps and best practices to maximise the collective benefits of their solutions.

“Proscia Ready gives us the confidence we need to consistently exceed our expectations,” said Derek . Welch MD, Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice-President at PathGroup and Proscia customer. “The alliance makes it easy for us to continue leveraging the latest technologies across our end-to-end workflow while giving us the streamlined experience that comes from working with one vendor. In turn, we can fully empower our pathologists in their day-to-day work.”

Proscia is also celebrating having recently expanded its leadership position in the diagnostic pathology market. The company has grown its clinical customer base by more than 100% in the past year. Among its other highlights, Proscia was recognised by KLAS Research in a June 2024 Emerging Company Spotlight report and released findings from a study conducted with Quest Diagnostics, a leading provider of diagnostic information services, on the impact of its AI-enabled workflows.
