Registration is now open for the Infection Diagnostics Symposium, hosted by BD, which aims to bring together professionals from the laboratory, ward and board across two days to discuss how a unified approach could improve infectious disease diagnostic pathways.
Taking place on 26-27 June 2024 in Birmingham, the Infection Diagnostics Symposium is a free-to-attend event aimed at pathology, clinical and AMR stewardship professionals and will focus on knowledge sharing across the different disciplines on diagnosis of multiple infection disease conditions. The event will be hosted at the charming, purpose-built events venue at IET Austin Court in Birmingham with lunch and dinner provided on both days. All delegates will be offered overnight accommodation.
Chaired by Angela Douglas, President of BIVDA and former Deputy Chief Scientific Officer at NHSE, the symposium will offer delegates the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, attend plenary lectures and browse a small trade fair around key themes such as bloodstream infections, AMR stewardship and near-patient testing over a two-day period.
Confirmed topics to be covered by subject matter experts include:
- Improving the bloodstream infection pathway with laboratory and clinical optimisation
- Opportunities for diagnostics in primary care, community and home settings
- Increasing accessibility and health equity in patient testing
- Optimising detection of HAIs including Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) infection.
The symposium represents the next in an ongoing series of educational events facilitated by BD. Following the successful Bloodstream Infection Symposium in 2023, the theme of multidisciplinary collaboration for better patient outcomes is continued into this year’s event calendar.
BD welcome anyone working in infectious disease to have their say and register today. Places will be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis.
