Submissions open for the 2023 Lab Awards

The Lab Awards, to be presented at the Lab Innovations show held in November, are back and bigger than ever at this year’s show, where winners will be crowned in categories such as sustainability, collaboration and innovation.

In previous years, the Lab Awards has been hosted on the exhibition floor at Lab Innovations, but, this year, the thirteen winners will claim their prizes on the evening of 1 November at The Vox, Birmingham as part of a special black-tie gala dinner.

The free entry submission portal for the awards is now open and you can download a submission guide here.

The Lab Awards, hosted in partnership with Laboratory News, will provide evening entertainment following Lab Innovations for the third time this year. 2023’s event features an expanded category list from previous years. In addition to old favourites, new awards have been added to recognise rising stars, laboratory technicians and smart labs. Those shortlisted for an award can purchase a ticket at a discounted rate.

“The Lab Awards are an opportunity for the whole lab industry to come together and celebrate the very best of our achievements over the past year,” said Simon Farnfield, event director at Lab Innovations. “The brightest minds and the most dedicated professionals from the lab world will gather to recognise the hard work and innovation of their peers. And have a great night while they do it.”

After the submission deadline on 21 July, a panel of experts from all corners of the UK laboratory industry will assemble to judge the entrants and compile an elite shortlist, announced on 4 September. On the evening of the awards, the Vox will play host to a black-tie gala dinner and a special host, to be announced soon, will present the winners with their prizes. The gala dinner is made possible this year by the huge growth in interest in the Lab Awards across its first two years of running, with industry highly valuing wins at the event.

The award categories are as follows: Rising Star; Lab Technician of the Year; Outstanding Achievement; Laboratory of the Year; Smart Lab of the Year; Sustainable Lab of the Year; Best Sustainable Product; Best Technology Innovation; Best Consumables Innovation; Best Collaborative Project; Best Diversity, Inclusion & Culture; Commitment to Skills & Training; and Supplier Excellence.
