Drone test at Milton Keynes Hospital

Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) has held a series of test flights of drones carrying blood samples across its main site in Milton Keynes.

Last week saw a series of test flights with blood samples transferred autonomously from dedicated drone stations located above the Pathology Unit and at the Saxon Clinic (as pictured). The aim of the project is to understand the feasibility of fast, safe and reliable short-range medical transportation by drone.

The MKUH Trust is working with manufacturing experts Intelsius and drone specialists Herotech8 to pilot the use of drones to transport medical supplies across the hospital site.

The demonstration flights are intended to gather as much data and user feedback as possible for a real-world use case.

A Trust spokesman said: "We will continue to be supporting the project to undertake further testing and development to identify how this can facilitate an improved service for our patients."
