New crystallisation technology on show at Lab Innovations 2022

Technobis Crystallization Systems will be showcasing its new Crystal16 benchtop crystalliser, which allows scientists to obtain solubility data earlier in drug development.

Crystallisation technology provider, Technobis Crystallization Systems, will be exhibiting at Lab Innovations at the NEC in Birmingham, from 2-3 November. The company will showcase the new version of its Crystal16, a multi-reactor crystalliser for medium throughput solubility determination, for the first time in the UK.

Crystal16 makes crystallisation studies more accessible in the early stages of drug formulation. Solubility curves for four solvents can be generated in just two hours using less than 100 mg of material, an estimated 20 times reduction in the amount of material needed in HPLC and equilibrium methods.

The latest version of the Crystal16 has new, integrated transmissivity technology that allows users to determine clear and cloud points, which result in solubility data and metastable zone width at an earlier stage than previously possible. It also has improved particle detection capabilities for crystallisation and nucleation studies.

Along with the Crystal16, visitors will also be able to find out further information on the company’s Crystalline and CrystalBreeder products. Crystalline is a small multi-reactor parallel system that offers turbidity analysis and particle visualisation. CrystalBreeder is a multi-reactor crystallization platform for medium-throughput solid-state research, operating at a working volume of 0.1 ml.

“We’re a small company from The Netherlands so events like Lab Innovations are great for us to meet new people and introduce them to our company, showing off what our instruments can do,” explained Sarah Thompson, sales manager for the UK, Ireland and Nordics. “We especially want to meet scientists who need to thermally cycle their samples while measuring the transmissivity.”
