Blackpool Teaching Hospitals received a VIP guest of honour early in August, when Dr Michael Osborn, president of The Royal College of Pathologists, officially opened the Trust’s new histopathology laboratory.
With dedicated sections for a range of different laboratory activities, the new facility boasts bespoke specialist equipment, more adequate space for the department’s workload and overall is a vast improvement in working environment for the Trust’s dedicated histopathology team.
The new laboratory will provide better facilities for staff, but, more importantly, increase the capacity to diagnose diseases and conditions, including cancers.
