Advanced urine sediment analyser launched

ARKRAY has launched the AUTION AI-4510, an advanced automated urine sediment analyser with inbuilt features to speed up workflow. It is the only sediment system to offer onboard autodilution, removing waste and ensure a higher degree of accuracy.

The AUTION AI-4510 is aimed specifically at the UK market, supporting clinicians with their initial screening for urinary tract infections (UTIs) with enhanced particle recognition. The standardised system employs the latest artificial intelligence (AI) technology to deliver greater accuracy and consistency of results. It automatically screens and identifies 12 particle types and 28 subcategories, allowing the user to zoom into high-resolution colour images of specific particles, improving identification.

As microbiologist Richard Green, ARKRAY’s urinalysis specialist, explained: “The AUTION AI-4510 technology focuses on offering NHS laboratories consistency and accuracy, enabling them to increase workflow with features like auto-dilution.

“Microbiologists will find they are familiar with the way it works, as its unique technology allows users to rack up and down on the images. It reduces the time taken to classify particles, replacing the need for manual, subjective microscopy for routine work. This frees highly qualified scientists, so they need only use their microscopy skills for closer examination of unusual, outlier samples.”

The AUTION AI-4510 is one of two high-performance systems being launched by ARKRAY in Europe, with the second analyser, the AUTION MAX AX-4060. The technology behind the chemistry-based AUTION MAX AX-4060 reduces the risk of carry-over and offers the semi-quantitative concentration levels for test results required in many European countries.
