Gastrointestinal pathogens: a Cornish view and milestone in detection

Gemma Vanstone recounts how she discovered the molecular EntericBio system, and the positive impact that clinicians and patients can experience when a local pathology service works closely with Serosep and uses its range of real-time PCR tests.

Serosep manufactures EntericBio, a molecular assay for the detection of gastrointestinal pathogens. The company’s UK operation has seen rapid growth, with EntericBio now the gold standard test for enteric pathogens in the UK clinical diagnostics market.

                Serosep was founded in 1997 and is based in Limerick, Ireland, with a subsidiary in Crawley, UK. The company’s customer base is the clinical diagnostic market in Ireland and the UK, and a network of carefully selected international distribution companies abroad. 

                The Serosep team has achieve another milestone in its mission to support NHS customers improve their enteric testing services and provide faster diagnosis and patient treatments, with the announcement that the 50th laboratory to use its EntericBio system is the Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust in Truro.
