Microbe 2021: cancellation and commercial support

Disappointingly, but predictably within the current pandemic conditions, the organisers of Microbe have taken the decision to cancel the 2021 event.

The group has been reviewing the situation on a monthly basis in the event that evidence suggested that the conference could proceed safely, enjoyably and successfully, but it now appears that those targets will be unlikely to be achieved by March 2021.

We will be in touch again very soon, to advise on refunds, and possibly credit notes where applicable. There is no need to contact us.

We are so disappointed for ourselves, and for you, that the conference will not go ahead as planned, but we will bring you news as soon as possible when the next conference will occur.

In support of the decision, Mark Reed (Pro-Lab Diagnostics) said: “The effects of the pandemic on the diagnostics industry worldwide have been far-reaching and touched everyone from manufacturers, to suppliers, to customers, to friends.

“The cancellation of Microbe 2021 drives this home as it joins the ever-growing lists of exhibitions and conferences worldwide being cancelled. MICROBE is perhaps the most enjoyable and interactive conference that we have for microbiology.

“The consequences of the pandemic affect us all.  Throughout this, our industry is working relentlessly to support, innovate and supply what is needed. As are all of our mutual customers working tirelessly keeping the essential testing services going, not just for COVID but everything else that laboratories across the UK have to do.

“On behalf of everyone at Pro-Lab Diagnostics, the entire commercial microbiology industry with whom it is a pleasure to work, stay safe and keep up the great work – we will all come out of this and meet up again soon when things return to normal.”
