In September, the thirteenth in the biennial Congress series will return to the International Convention Centre in Birmingham. The focus once again is on the very best that biomedical science and commercial colleagues have to offer. With the launch this month of the full programme, Pathology in Practice provides a brief preview of the event.
Bookings for Congress have just opened and this is going to be the most ambitious Congress the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) has ever held. A choice of 15 different lecture programmes is unparalleled in any other biomedical science event. New for 2019 is a whole day of lectures devoted to point-of-care testing (POCT) and a day of veterinary pathology lectures; very different but both guaranteed to bring new science, new insight and more options for delegates at Congress.
More choice, more flexibility
Pathology is operating in a very challenging environment and the workforce is working to capacity, which is why Congress will once again be opening on a Sunday to give the widest opportunity for as many people as possible to attend. Many delegates want to hear lectures from different programmes and sometimes these might clash; to help avoid having to choose, the IBMS is offering two of its most popular programmes on the Sunday. Education and Training and Quality Management will both be on this opening day, with Education and Training continuing on to the Monday, and Quality Management being repeated on the Wednesday to help every delegate make the most of their time at Congress.
