Ian Jennings and Rob Jones report on proceedings of the first day of the UK NEQAS for Blood Coagulation annual scientific and participants’ meeting, which was held in Sheffield last year.
Clinical and Laboratory Haemostasis 2017, the UK NEQAS for Blood Coagulation (BC) annual scientific and participants’ meeting was held at Sheffield Hallam University last June. The two-day meeting attracted over 300 delegates, and clinical, laboratory and research aspects of haemostasis and thrombosis were covered. Recognised national and international experts travelled to give a talk in their specialist area of haemostasis and thrombosis. In addition to the lecture programme, there was a poster display and a commercial exhibition.
Professor Isobel Walker (UK NEQAS Director) opened the proceedings with a welcome address to the audience, welcomed all delegates and thanked all speakers, exhibitors and organisers before introducing Professor Henry Watson (UK NEQAS BC steering committee chair) to chair the opening session.
