RNA isolation kits

Researchers at Swansea University selected the MO BIO RNA PowerSoil total RNA isolation Kit, available from Cambio, for investigations of an important group of bacteria.

Dr Geertje van Keulen, lecturer in biochemistry, and her team have studied the biology of Streptomycetes, filamentous soil bacteria that produce secondary metabolites including around 70% of all naturally occurring antibiotics, as well as numerous other clinically useful compounds such as anti-helminth and anti-cancer agents. This work is helping to elucidate the clinically important secondary metabolism of S. coelicolor, as well as the way in which certain pathogens respond to oxygen limitation during infection.
