John Stevens, a past-president of the IBMS, has been appointed Chair of the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS). Qualified as a biomedical scientist in haematology and transfusion science, John has worked across all healthcare disciplines, including a spell as a research assistant.
Over the past 25 years he has held a number of posts including principal biomedical scientist, business manager, general manager, and finally head of the project management office for a Foundation Trust. Since November 2011, when John retired, he has held office as a Non-Executive Director of the AHCS and joined the Board of Lab Tests Online.
John said: “I am delighted to be able to continue to work with the Academy in this new role as Chair, particularly during this period of exciting ’One Voice’ work that we are undertaking. ‘One Voice’ is shaped by healthcare scientists through the Academy and will pave the future of our profession and enable us to achieve leadership presence across the NHS.”
