Investment and collaboration mark a new era in transfusion medicine

With more than 2000 Ortho AutoVue systems in use around the world and the rolling launch of its successor, the Vision analyser, now underway, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics is well established in the transfusion medicine sector.

Newly independent from former owners Johnson & Johnson, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics (OCD) is now demonstrating its energetic commitment to immunohaematology customers through a significant manufacturing investment, new collaborations and a strong new product pipeline.

A prime site
From cost containment and rising demand to increased haemovigilance, transfusion medicine professionals continue to face ever-more complex challenges. Against this background, assuring the timely supply of high-quality products is more vital than ever.

Looking closely at the projected needs of its customers in the Europe, Africa and Middle East (EMEA) region, OCD took the decision to site its second global source for the production of Ortho BioVue cassettes within this key market. The perfect location – an award-winning manufacturing site with an experienced, specialised team – was already available in Pencoed, South Wales.
