Lean methods were at the heart of a two-day Siemens meeting held last year at The Crystal in London, the focus of the event being the evolving pathology landscape.
Creating a Lean laboratory is one of the most important challenges to pursue in today’s pathology environment. This is not enough in today’s environment, however, as the need for a collaborative workforce, the latest technology, evidence-based decisions to realise time and cost gains from process efficiencies plus effective partnering with suppliers are also all important factors to consider.
At a recent two-day Process Management meeting, which took place at The Crystal in London, one of the world’s most sustainable buildings, laboratory managers, biomedical scientists and clinical scientists gathered to discuss the current issues facing laboratories. Strategies to ensure that NHS and private laboratories are prepared for the reality of increasing test volumes and in an uncertain environment were explored in depth.
The meeting, hosted by Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, included seminars delivered by a peer panel of pathology managers and thought-leaders from across north-west Europe in addition to business and process optimisation experts from Siemens.
