Correct pipetting techniques combined with high-quality equipment are essential for good laboratory analysis and performance, as Pathology in Practice discovered when in conversation with representatives from a leading UK commercial specialist in the field.
Amanda Cooper (AC) is marketing assistant at Anachem, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading liquid handling specialists, with over 40 years’ experience in this field. Amanda is responsible for many of the company’s day-to-day marketing activities. Together with her colleague, Craig Bush (CB), Anachem’s pipette service operations manager, she spoke with Pathology in Practice (PIP) to discuss topical issues and the latest developments in the field of liquid handling.
PIP What is Anachem’s background in laboratory diagnostics and consumables?
AC Anachem distributes an extensive range of pipettes and tips from leading manufacturers and our own brands, plus quality consumables including microtubes, racks, plates, PCR plastics and molecular biology reagents to provide essential tools across a range of laboratories. We have been exclusive distributors for both Gilson and Rainin in this time. In January 2010, Anachem was very pleased to become part of Mettler Toledo International, and, in December 2010, in order to strengthen its existing leadership in the liquid handling market, Anachem relocated to new premises in Luton, with a state-of-the-art, purpose-built, UK Accreditation Service (UKAS)-cccredited Pipette Service Centre. This provides high-quality service and calibration support, which ensures our customers’ pipettes are maintained to the highest possible standards, which in turn helps to ensure that the quality of their research and analytical procedures are not compromised.
