IBMS appoints new Chief Executive

The IBMS has announced the appointment of Jill Rodney as its new Chief Executive. She replaces Alan Potter who has retired after giving over 20 years’ service to the Institute. Jill, a pharmacist by training and latterly chief executive of Milton Keynes NHS Foundation Trust, took up her post in mid-January and brings a wealth of NHS experience to the Institute. Her thrust into health service management began at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and she has an MBA and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

In welcoming Jill’s appointment, IBMS President Ken Rae said: “Jill’s top-flight experience and great leadership skills will be an enormous asset in moving the Institute forward. Jill understands the need to ensure we can respond successfully to the rapidly changing nature of the wider health economy, the evolving career structures of biomedical scientists and the vital importance of maintaining the professional standards of our members.”

In reply, Jill said: “I’m delighted to be joining the IBMS. It is a great organisation that represents a large, highly skilled and qualified membership which provides a vast range of vital services across the NHS,
the private healthcare sector and beyond. The changes we all face across the wider healthcare environment present both a challenge and an enormous opportunity. I’m looking forward to understanding more about how we should change and respond in order to seize these opportunities to ensure a successful future for the IBMS and the members and patients it serves.”
