Purification of GST-tagged proteins

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced availability of the new Macherey-Nagel Protino glutathione agarose 4B kit in the UK. Protino glutathione agarose 4B and Protino GST/4B columns enable fast and convenient purification of recombinant GST-tagged proteins from whole-cell extracts by affinity chromatography.

The binding of GST-tagged proteins using Protino glutathione agarose 4B is highly specific, based on the selective enzyme–substrate interaction between the glutathione-S-transferase tag of the recombinant protein and the immobilised glutathione of the affinity resin. Thus, just one chromatographic step results in a high degree of purification.

Protino glutathione agarose 4B offers the same specification and performance as leading alternative product for the purification of GST-tagged proteins, demonstrating comparable yield and purity.  The new matrix is available in 10 mL or 100 mL volumes (settled beads), or prepacked in ready-to-use 1 mL Protino GST/4B columns, and is suitable for the purification of small proteins, large protein complexes, and for proteins with low expression rates.
