Olympus supports standardised guidelines on wristbands

The National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) issued its Safer Practice Notice: Standardising wristbands improves patient safety to all NHS organisations in England and Wales.

This recommended the action required by NHS organisations in England and Wales in order to standardise wristbands by July this year, with the final clause to “generate and print all patient wristbands from the hospital demographic system” to be completed by July 2009.

To help NHS organisations in the implementation of these guidelines, Olympus UK has produced a handy guide to the NPSA Patient Safety Programme. The executive briefings booklet, sponsored by Olympus UK, serves to inform chief executives, trust managers and healthcare professionals of the important points discussed in the NPSA Safer Practice Notice, what it means in practice and what can be done to achieve the actions recommended.
