Tameside installs UK's first integrated work cell

Beckman Coulter UK has announced that Tameside Hospital has installed the UK's first UniCel DxC 880i Synchron Access clinical system – its integrated work cell that consolidates chemistry and immunoassay testing in high-volume laboratories.

The DxC 880i is the latest addition to the company's work cell family and combines Beckman Coulter's UniCel DxC 800 and UniCel DxI 800. The DxC 880i advances the company's strategy of delivering standardised work cell solutions for greater laboratory efficiency. Work cells are the fastest growing segment of the chemistry testing market and the company has three additional work cells in
development, designed for different testing volumes.

Jag Grewal, marketing manager for northern Europe, said: "Tameside has seen the benefits of upgrading its existing UniCel DxC 800 chemistry and DxI800 immunoassay systems to the new DxC880i configuration in order to streamline and simplify its operations. We are delighted that they have the record of being the first UK hospital to install the new integrated system."
