Doris-Ann Williams, director-general of the British In Vitro Diagnostics Association (BIVDA), commented recently on the government’s proposals for so-called health MoTs.
Early diagnosis ensures that effective treatment can be prescribed as soon as possible, greatly increasing the chances of a positive outcome for people.
“Diagnostics can play a vital role in allaying the health concerns of those people most likely to suffer from conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and kidney disease. Prevention is always better than cure, both for the person concerned and for the NHS. What’s more, targeted diagnostics and screening can be hugely beneficial in proactively assessing people’s health.”
