Oxoid recently hosted a celebratory dinner to congratulate the winners of the 2006/2007 Oxoid Infection Control Team of the Year Awards. Three teams were present to receive their prizes from Ali Ball, Oxoid marketing and distributor sales director.

First prize winners, Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust, UK, received a trophy and £5000 in recognition of the team’s outstanding achievements. Cho Ray Hospital, Vietnam, received second prize and were awarded a framed certificate and £1000. Two teams were awarded joint third prize. The team from Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust attended the celebration and received £500 and a framed certificate. The team from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Nigeria, will receive their award in Nigeria.

“We were delighted to recognise the achievements of the winning teams,” commented Fiona Macrae, Oxoid marketing communications and awards manager. “Oxoid products play a major part in helping to identify and diagnose major hospital-acquired infections such as Clostridium difficile and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and the Oxoid Infection Control Team of the Year Awards give us the opportunity to recognise the true team effort that microbiologists, laboratory staff, infection control doctors and nurses play in striving to make hospitals safer for us all.”
