Cell signal transduction reagents for flow cytometric analysis

Beckman Coulter has introduced two additions to its line of cell signal transduction reagents û Phospho- MAPKAPK-2 and Phospho-STAT3 kinase antibodies.

These single-colour flow cytometric reagents measure kinase activation in the cytoplasm and are valuable for cell function research. By measuring the phosphorylation of specific intracellular proteins, these research reagents can aid in the study of surface-to-nucleus cell signal transduction pathways.

The Phospho-MAPKAPK2 marker is particularly useful in the study of pro-inflammatory mediator release, actin re-organisation and cell invasion mechanisms. The Phospho-STAT3 marker that translocates to the cell nucleus upon activation plays a key role in many cellular processes such as cell growth and apoptosis.

“The field of signal transduction research by flow cytometry is relatively new and is growing at an exciting pace,” commented Jag Grewal, Beckman Coulter’s marketing manager for Northern Europe. “The ability to examine and measure cell- by-cell activation states, even in whole blood leucocyte populations, gives us a powerful tool for investigating intercellular functional networking and its related disorders.”
