Shaking it all about . . .

New Brunswick Scientific's new large-capacity incubated Innova 43 Shaker and 43R with added refrigeration provide built-in programming capability to remove the stress from growing cultures.

Temperature can be ramped up or down, the agitation rate changed on a timed basis or cultures placed in metabolic stasis. Changes to photosynthetic lighting and UV decontamination are available on the 43R model. A range from 5░C above ambient to 80░C (minimum setpoint 4░C) provides the versatility for culturing a wider range of cell types, as does the speed range of 25û500 rev/min. The refrigerated Innova 43R offers settings right down to ambient û20░C. These versatile shakers are capable of handling flasks up to six litres. Attention has been paid to everyday usability, too. An easy-access foot pedal raises the lid, leaving hands free to carry samples, and the display is clearly visible from all angles and at a distance. Reliability and safety is assured with a coolrunning brushless motor that never requires lubrication and is governed by an acceleration/ deceleration circuit that does away with flask closure wetting. There is a built-in RS232 port for datalogging and computer control, plus further advanced functions that were developed in conjunction with scientists.
