Ferocious concentration

A range of affordable and highspeed evaporator systems is available from Porvair Sciences for the efficient concentration of samples in 96- and/or 384- well microplates.

For those R&D laboratories whose main need is to dry individual plates the MiniVap is state-of-the-art in 96-well microplate sampleevaporator units. Compact in design, it takes just minutes to dry down a plate, replacing the traditional techniques that can take hours to remove solvents from a 96-well microplate. The MiniVap is simple to operate and maintain. Installation just requires connection to a gas supply and standard mains socket. Safety of operation is ensured as the CE-marked compact unit fits into all fume cupboards. Where laboratories need to concentrate samples in 96- and 384-well microplates, the Ultravap should be the system of choice. It is designed to remove the bottleneck of solvent evaporation from 96- or 384-well microplates prior to analysis or reconstitution in buffer, so the Ultravap provides an edge to laboratories looking to optimise microplate sample preparation productivity. And significant increases in sample throughput are achieved using advanced evaporator head technology and an innovative manifold design, which directly injects heated nitrogen into each individual well of the microplate simultaneously. The system removes even the most stubborn solvents in minutes. For heat-sensitive and thermally labile samples, the Ultravap may be operated in a twostage mode combining rapid initial dry-down with controlled final solvent evaporation. Onboard software gives nine drying programmes, eliminating the need for skilled operators to set-up the system when changing experiments.
