Fujifilm launch nucleic acid isolation system

Fujifilm launched the QuickGene-810 Nucleic Acid Isolation System worldwide in April 2005. The Institute for Cancer Studies, at the University of Sheffield Medical School, had a prototype of the QuickGene-810 on trial prior to the worldwide launch, and were so impressed that they decided to keep it.

The QuickGene-810 is a highly innovative system, which extracts DNA and RNA automatically, using a revolutionary ôporous membraneö, which makes full use of FujifilmÆs original advanced polymer membrane technology. This captures a high yield of nucleic acid in its extremely thin 80-micron body without the need for centrifuge, saving time and resources. Leo Maguire, Technical Manager at Fujifilm went to visit The Institute for Cancer Studies at the University of Sheffield Medical School to install the system with Antony Dewar of Raytek, FujifilmÆs distribution partner in the UK.
