Feeling a little touchy

Following the success of its Touchscreen control system, introduced to the Touchclave- Lab autoclave range last year, LTE has now launched a new control system û Touchscreen-R.

This offers a powerful PLC combined with an easy-to-use touchscreen through which all user commands, cycle data, programme data and alarms are input and displayed. This versatile system gives the choice of selecting from menu of load-specific cycles or developing cycle profiles. Eight cycles can be stored and optional expansion is available to increase that to 20. There is a facility to input operator ID and batch information at this stage for traceable cycles. There is also a facility to programme delayed cycle start, which is useful for maximising the use of the steriliser. The system is self-diagnostic and will highlight any abnormality in the cycle. As an alternative to Touchscreen-R, a uni-programme control system can be fitted for routine or repetitive applications, saving cost. Autoclaves in the LTE Osprey range are available in eight standard chamber sizes: front loading at 40, 70, 150 and 380 litres; and top loading at 50, 100 and 130 litres. All chambers are cylindrical. Steam is generated by heating water in a reservoir within the chamber, with air removed by upward displacement. The Osprey 40 is designed to be bench mounted. Other models are floor standing. To keep the water reservoir in the chamber topped up, an auto-fill system is available on the Osprey 70, 150 and 380 models.
